The Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Hon Francis Nwifuru and front line gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress has been blessed by the Ebonyi State Traditional rulers council to go ahead and succeed Governor David Umahi in 2023
This followed the visit of Nwifuru to the Secretariat of the traditional ruler’s council in Abakaliki to present his APC Governorship Nomination Form and Expression of Interest to the Royal Fathers. The Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council Eze Charles Nkpuma, who welcomed Nwifuru on behalf of the traditional rulers assured him of the support of the traditional rulers He commended the Speaker for the recognition accorded the Council and pointed out that the Speaker will even outperform the sitting Governor of Ebonyi, Engr David Umahi in developing the state.
“We do not doubt your capacity, we know you very well. You will perform more than your master,” Eze Mkpuma said. The Speaker while commending the Royal fathers for the warm reception told them that he was in the race following his endorsement by his Izzi people and the entire stakeholders of the state.
Nwifuru who promised to embark on aggressive construction of rural roads to link the entire communities to the state capital, if elected governor, noted that his administration would consolidate on the achievements of Governor David Umahi. “I am here to present to you our nomination forms to contest next year’s general election. We never met anybody for consultation but it was you the traditional rulers, my Izhi people and the entire people that told us to contest the 2023 governorship election. “When the traditional rulers from Ithe Izzi clan and stakeholders asked me to run for the election, tears dropped from my eyes because I am too young but they said I am the one that they want. I want to assure you people that I will not disappoint the state.
“We are going to tackle rural-urban migration by opening roads, providing light, water and other amenities that make life meaningful in the communities. We will build on the legacies of the present Governor, Dave Umahi who has transformed the state. We will consolidate on his achievements,” the speaker assured.
