Another name for it is Ogbake. Ogbanje is like Iyi uwa. It is like group of spirits that move together and are often linked to the sea. Some can be found on the earth too. They usually have an agreement and make vows to each other agreeing on what to do on earth before stepping into the physical world. Some of the group members are still in the spiritual realm waiting for those already on earth to fulfill their vows.
They sign and put a seal to their vows by burying something somewhere before embarking on that journey. To fulfill that promise or vow some would say that they will pass on and return after a certain period on earth, or after a certain event like marriage, birth of one child, or fulfillment of particular issue or another
These agreements are binding on oath, So when they come to the physical world and sees that there are levels of enjoyment and relationships that they have made here and which they would not like to miss, when they may have over stayed the members on the other side would begin to disturb them based on the agreement. That is when they start having problems.
How to save the person and still keep the spiritual connection
There is a spiritual connection between the person and his group. The body is like a vehicle conveying the spirit from one point to another. It is in this regard that one begins to seek spiritual help of experts. This is to know exactly what the challenges are and how to ratify it. The only way to solve it is to redo, renew and extend it. They give reasons why there is going to be a breach of the vow, settle them and ask for more time.
It is not something to declare war on anybody. Someone can embark on a journey for 3 months and by virtue of circumstances happening around him, he may need to extend his visa. This is normal. This must be done in a manner that it would not create conflict around the persons who are connected to your business or trip that you have made. Same thing is applicable here. This is now where you start looking for where they have buried the symbol of the vow on earth.
Once it is out it has to be broken so that person here can live a normal life. Ogbanje is not so much of a problem but can be if not checked properly because the person involved may die. Women have gone through this process. Some women can say that if they conceive the child would die. This is the reason that when things happen our people have to go to Afa to ask questions. You don’t have to assume. What one need to do is to investigate properly.
Bad side
The bad side of Ogbanje is because one may not know the particular oath taken. Some people may take oath that they will live long to a ripe old age. Ogbanje and Iyi uwa are almost one and same thing but it depends. Ogbanje has a lot to do with Iyi uwa. In Ogbanje case, one has to belong to a particular group while in the case of Iyi uwa it could be an oath you took in a previous life before dying or an oath that was placed on you by your people. Ogbanje is the case where you belong to a group you have vowed to and this is the reason your group comes to disturb to hold you accountable.
They will keep disturbing you until they are settled by keeping it pending asking for the parties to allow more time or by the person involved maintaining constant communication with them
It is only a dibia that will know what to apply, understanding the level of the person spiritually before he incarnated on this physical body. The biggest mistake that one can do is to go and call a pastor or prophet. They have nothing to do with Ogbanje. The truth about life is that he who keeps something knows where it is and only he has the right to go and take it where he has placed it.
The church has no business in any of these things. They have no connection with Ogbanje, water spirit or Iyi uwa so they don’t know how to resolve the issues. Going to them is disastrous and could mean to start something that you may not be able to finish. It is like when you ask someone to go and uproot yam and he cuts it off. He did not uproot it, but only cut it off and the yam might germinate again or decay.
It is the man that planted something that knows how deep the root is and he is the one with right to uproot it and know that it has been uprooted. Let us not give someone responsibilities that he cannot shoulder. People run to church because of the way they carry out their propaganda. Most of these pastors do some of these things because they have been able to establish their Agwu. They are not doing it in the name of any deity in the scripture or name of Jesus. They are doing it because they know that they can make money off these people who are gullible.
Here they put the people’s life in danger and you see that the people’s problem still persists. Here nothing is solved. They are only using the Agwu to understand the situation making you feel that they can help because they have gone through the same experience. This is the reason people die in this kind of matter. A woman in child birth would die and they would say it is because of caesarean operation.
These are things that we never really look into. Something made that nurse or doctor to make a mistake or for the child to have complications in the womb. We look at the problem without looking at the root. This is where Afa comes in. Before an Igbo person does something even if he is going to pick a wife he consults Afa, if wife is pregnant he consults Afa to know the kind of child that is coming into the family.
When the wife is due for delivery, the Afa would reveal these things ahead especially if you meet the good ones. That is why children are not given names like that because Afa would reveal the child and the name that suits him would be given to him according to his destiny and why the child came. But these days no one goes into that again because of church beliefs
When you have something to do with the spirit world you have to find a way to resolve issues with them because they have right over what they are claiming. When you settle them properly you will have that peace you need without any stress.
