General Overseer of Agape Evangelical Ministries (City of Miracles) located at Obikabia junction in Aba, Abia State, Bishop Timothy Otu has been arrested by the Police after a female married evangelist and a mother of five identified as Evangelist Happiness died in a hotel.
It was alleged that the late female evangelist lodged with the Bishop at a hotel known as Jubilee Guest House Ovom, in the Ogbor hill area of Aba before she was found dead in the hotel room. It was gathered that the incident happened around 11pm on Saturday 12th August 2023 after the Bishop who booked the room with her absconded from the hotel on discovering that his evangelist-lover had died.
He was said to have lied to the hotel receptionist that he was going to buy food at that time of the night, before disappearing into thin air, without the receptionist knowing that Bishop Otu’s lover was stone -dead in the bed inside the hotel room.
The manager of the Hotel who suspected foul play immediately reported to the Eastern Ngwa Police Station in Obingwa Local Government Area around 1am on Sunday morning. When officers of the Nigerian Police from Eastern Ngwa Police station arrived at the hotel, the woman was lying naked with foam coming out of her mouth and nose.
It was gathered that when her mobile phone was opened, it was discovered that the woman who is a mother of five children, was a member of the Agape Evangelical Ministries Incorporated founded by Bishop Timothy Otu. It was also found out that they had been allegedly having romantic relationship and discussion through text messages which were seen by the Police.
Investigations revealed that the woman may have died during the marathon sex with the Bishop. But luck ran out of the suspect as Police officers traced him to his Church at Obikabia junction, dressed in mufti. The Policemen who attended his Sunday service with in disguise, surprisingly met the acclaimed Bishop Timothy Otu preaching about repentance and righteousness and immediately arrested him and took him to their station where he is being detained.
Evangelist Happiness has been deposited in undisclosed mortuary while investigations have commenced. The dead mother of five children allegedly hails from Umuatakawom village in Obingwa while her husband works in Bayelsa State. But Abia State Police Command is yet to officially confirm the report.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka told News Echo that her office was yet to receive any official report about the incident. She promised to get back to the correspondent but was yet to respond as at the time of this report. Further efforts to hear from her was unsuccessful as her phone was switched off the second time the PPRO was called.
