…Charge PGs on roles in implementing government policies.
The TC Chairman of Orumba North L.G.A, Capt. Barr. Casmir Nwafor (Rtd) has frowned at the poor state of rural roads within the local government area as a result of constructions on
community roads and water channels.
Barr Nwafor disclosed this on 11th, July, 2024 when he hosted all the sixteen town union President Generals in the council’s Secretariat. This move aimed to empower the PGs to contribute effectively to the development of their communities.
Despite the short notice, Barr. Nwafor appreciated their prompt response, highlighting the crucial role of the PGs in implementing government policies.
During the meeting, the Mayor expressed concern over the poor state of rural roads and emphasized the need for proper maintenance by those who registered streets in their names. He warned of revocation for non-compliance and mandated approval from the PG for street naming to avoid abandoned roads. The Mayor also condemned haphazard construction on community roads and water channels.
The Chairman instructed the PGs to be actively involved in building approvals through their works Chairmen to prevent access road and water channel blockages. He stressed the significance of prioritizing safety and security to ensure a prosperous Orumba. Furthermore, the Mayor encouraged the PGs to select projects for the council to execute, aligning with his goal of equitable community development.
Dr. Raymond Offor, onbelaf of ONATU, commended the Mayor for his rare gesture and thanked him for the unprecedented progress under his government. He expressed their acceptance of the Mayor as a gift from God and prayed for divine grace upon him. Dr. Offor assured unalloyed support to the TC Chairman.
