Nnewi community were on 24th Oct filled to the brim as personalities, traditional groups, civil societies, politicians and who is who in Nigeria converged to big farewell to the first wife of Igwe Nnewi, HRH Igwe K.O.N Orizu, late Lolo Catherine Nwazunafia Orizu Ifediezenma (Nee Mbelu).
Until her demise she was a cherished member of the royal family. The Crown Prince of Nnewi Dynasty, Prince Obianaefo Orizu, who represented the Igwe in Council, led the tribute, honoring Lolo Catherine’s invaluable contributions to the Nnewi kingdom.
As the crown prince and eldest son of Igwe Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu III, Obianaefo Orizu spoke fondly of Lolo Catherine’s unwavering dedication to the kingdom’s progress and prayed that God grants her repose eternal rest
The farewell ceremony was a poignant moment for the Nnewi community, gathering to celebrate Lolo Catherine’s life and legacy. Igwe Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu III, the 20th Obi of Otolo and Igwe of Nnewi kingdom, has reigned for over 60 years, as Lolo Catherine had been a vital part of his council. Her wisdom and guidance will be deeply missed, but her impact on the kingdom will be remembered for generations.
As a member of the Nnofo Royal lineage, Lolo Catherine embodied the values of the Nnewi people: respect, compassion, and strength. Her selflessness and commitment to the community inspired countless individuals, and her presence will be deeply felt in the days to come. Obianaefo Orizu, on behalf of the Igwe in Council, expressed gratitude for Lolo Catherine’s tireless efforts, ensuring her legacy would continue to inspire the kingdom.
The Nnewi kingdom’s rich history and traditions were woven throughout the farewell ceremony, reflecting the deep respect and admiration for Lolo Catherine. This poignant farewell marked the end of an era, yet also celebrated Lolo Catherine’s enduring spirit.
The event witnessed the presence of the Senate President and members of the legislature who was ably represented by the Speaker Anambra state house of Assembly,Rt Hon. Somto Udeze. In his speech during the funeral he gave glowing tribute to late wife of Igwe Orizu.
He also thanked God for the life of the late matriarch whom he said lived fulfilled life. He therefore called on the Orizu Family not to take the demise of their mother to heart as she lived a fullfilled life.
As the Nnewi community bids farewell to HRH Lolo Catherine Nwazunafia Orizu Ifediezenma Nee Mbelu, they took comfort in the knowledge that her legacy will live on through the kingdom’s continued growth and prosperity. Igwe Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu III and the Igwe in Council, led by Obianaefo Orizu, remain committed to upholding the values and traditions that Lolo Catherine embodied, ensuring her memory continues to inspire future generations.
In the same vein, the MD of Dozzy Oil and Gas, Sir Daniel Chukwudozie was also on ground to pay homeage to the late wife of Igwe Orizu. While interacting with newsmen, he thanked God for the life she lived. He also condoled with Igwe K.O.N Orizu and family and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
