Founder Tabitha philanthropic Community Initiative, Mrs Eunice Ikwuagwu has been inducted as Mother Tabitha by the Anglican Bishop of Owerri, RT Rev Chukwuma Oparah pH.D, JP on the occasion of his 5th year Episcopal Anniversary held at the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of our Lord (CATOL) Owerri.
Speaking to newsmen after her Induction as Mother Tabitha, Mrs Ikwuagwu said the non governmental Organization started in 2003 in her quest to meet the socioeconomic needs of the less privileged in the society especially across the five south Eastern states.
she disclosed that the initiative started when she left Nigeria for the US and saw the need to alliviate the plights of the poor, this made her to start shipping barrels of items from the US to be distributed to communities and churches. as she noted that she decided not use her wealth to acquire properties but channeled her resources to the less privileged in the local communities.
She said that the foundation has empowered lots of women in their business as well as youths who has been trained in various skills and lots of other empowerments.
According to her, she took after her mother who was also a philanthropist who touched so many lives with her resources, this support to the church and the communities endeared her to be recognised as Mother Tabitha by the Anglican church after the Biblical Deborah who was famous for helping people.
Mrs Ikwuagwu also seized the reception of her Induction to feed the people that came to felicitate with her on the award and also distributed lots of sourvenir as a show of appreciation.
In his words Mazi Kelechi, Ejiogu, a relative of the celebrant, said the act of giving is a gift from God and expressed delight over the activities of The founder and her foundation and said that with the foundation
based in US and Nigeria more people would be reached. He further prayed for good health and longlife for the founder praying that God will sustain her efforts and being more increase.
Also a member of the founder, Mr Festus Chibueze Ejiogu also attested to the philanthropic works of the founder who he described as a giver without reservation and disclosed that she has impacted lots of lives and prayed God to continue to bless her immensely.
