A chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia State, Chief Benjamin Apugo has welcomed the defection of Ebonyi State Governor, Engr Dave Umahi to his party, describing the move as a thing of joy to the South East.
Apugo stated this on Friday in Umuahia while commenting on the development and describing the Ebonyi Governor as a man who had a lot to offer the APC.
He however, warned the Ebonyi State Governor against harbouring inordinate political ambition which he said, would become a misplaced priority for the Governor.
Apugo went on to advise the remaining South East Governors to dump their parties and join APC, arguing that the South East did not enjoy a better deal from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last 21 years.
Chief Apugo also called for the collapse of the entire South East to the APC as according to him, the zone would benefit a lot from the center than unyielding education.
Meanwhile, All Progressive Congress, (APC) Abia State chapter has alleged a plan by the Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa-led Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) to rig the December 2020 local government elections in the State.
In a statement made available to journalists in Umuahia, the Secretary of Abia APC, Comrade Perfect Okorie alleged that ABSIEC was not being fair to opposition parties, especially the imposition of exorbitant fees on aspirants.
APC demanded a level playing ground, vowing to sweep to polls if elections are free and fair.
