The Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Barr Ifeanyi U chendu has chided the state fo rmer commissioner of Finance, Mr. Obinna Oriaku over his allegations against the legislators.
Oriaku, immediate past Commissioner of Finance had in a recent interview, claimed that the House Members collected N140 million overhead expenditure.
He also alleged that the lawmakers usually demanded money before passing annual budgets of the state.
Oriaku, a financial consultant, also alleged that there was a cabal inside the House of Assembly.
But reacting to Oriaku’s claims, the Deputy Speaker, Ifeanyi Uchendu described the claims as coming from a political jobber.
The deputy speaker who is also the chairman of the House Committee on Information had this to say over the allegation, “That Ahia State House of Assembly receives Nl 40 million is a lie from the pit of hell and from a frustrated political jobber. We did not receive such amount. My brother there is freedom of information act and if you want to know the exact amount the assembly receives as overhead expenditure, you can apply to the accounts department and you will be furnished with the necessary information.
“For the records, there is no cabal in the 7th House of Assembly. The leadership under the Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji is very transparent one and members across all political parties can attest to this fact. Nobody is receiving such amount whether daily, monthly or yearly”, the deputy speaker refuted.
