The Chancellor of Gregory University, Uturu, Prof Gregory Ibe has distributed 3,277 bags of rice to Abians in 17 LGAs of the State, in celebration of 2021 Christmas festival.
The rice gifts, which were packaged in 50, 25 and 10 kgs respectively, were shared to Abians in 292 electoral wards across the State, aimed at helping them celebrate the yuletide.
Kicking off the distribution in Arochukwu council, Prof Ibe, represented by the Director of Abia Crusaders Forum Foundation, Prince Emeka Okafor, said the love was the true reason for the season and charged Abians to extend hands of help to one another, especially the less privileged.
Prince Okafor noted that the Christmas gift was the climax of 2021 philanthropic activities initiated by Prof Ibe which included offer of scholarship to 130 Abia indigenes in strategic undergraduate studies, distribution of free textbooks to schools among others.
He challenged Christians to practice their faith in God by loving one another and offering help to the needy.
