The Honorable Commissioner for youth, sports and social development, Hon Emeka Okoronkwo, representing the Governor of Imo State, challenged the corps members during the Swearing-In Ceremony/ official commencement of the NYSC 2023 Batch C (Stream II) at the Orientation camp, Eziama Obaire.
He advised the corps members to be law-abiding and shun anti-social vices, emphasizing the importance of their high level of patriotism, resilience, and hard work in achieving a better and more positive Nigeria. The Governor also commended the NYSC Scheme for its groundbreaking achievements over the past five decades.
He emphasized the importance of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program in empowering the corps members and contributing to the development of the state and the nation at large. The Uzodimma-led administration has made adequate arrangements for the welfare and safety of the corps members, and plans to reward those who discharge their mandate credibly during their service year.
The NYSC Imo State Coordinator, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, encouraged the corps members to see the Orientation course as a platform and opportunity to promote and sustain national unity and integration. She urged them to adhere strictly to the Bye-Laws of the Orientation course and to imbibe the motto of the Scheme, which is Service and Humility.
The Chief Judge of Imo State, represented by Hon. Justice EN. Ekeh, swore-in and administered the Oath of Allegiance on the Corps Members during the well-attended event. The presence of the Director of the State Security Imo State Command, the Commandant of the NSCDC, the State Commander of NDLEA, and the Sector Commander of FRSC represented a strong show of support for the corps members and their mission.
