A humanitarian and a social worker, Obinna Ukor, says over 50 vulnerable lives have been positively touched by Obinna Ukor Foundation.
Ukor noted that the humanitarian outfit which was established in 2022 has assisted prisoners in many ways, paid hospital bills for poor patients and registered Common Entrance Exam for indigent pupils across board in order to mitigate their problems, as well as help them calve a niche for themselves.
He disclosed this when he spoke to journalists after receiving a Global Peace Ambassador Award from the International Synergy of Advocates for Global Peace and Development Initiative, held at his World Bank residence, Owerri, last week.
While vowing to strengthen social work to lift indigent persons with a view to making the society a better place for everyone, Ukor expressed gratitude to God for giving him chance and enablement to render help to vulnerable persons.
Equally, he thanked those who support his social work including family members, friends, business associates, clergy, community leaders and fellow humanitarians for felicitating with him on his meritorious recognition by the United Nations Peace Volunteers.
“The honor came because of my meekness, hospitality towards humanity. Obinna Ukor Foundation is the main reason for the award. The foundation was established in 2022. It has assisted over 50 vulnerable persons: prisoners, patients, pupils and a lot more. I call on all well- meaning persons to ensure that people around us are selflessly helped to reduce suffering in the society”, Ukor stated.
Bestowing the medal of honor on Obinna Ukor earlier, the Executive Director, International Synergy of Advocates for Global Peace and Development Initiative, Hon. Otu Abasi (JP), hinted that the recognition came because of his generosity to humanity especially to the vulnerable.
Otu Abasi who represented the Global Peace President, Per Stafson, added that “on the premise of the United Nations World Creativity and Innovation Day, Obinna Ukor was nominated as Global Peace Ambassador which was conferred on him this day in recognition of his generosity and the impact he made in the society. He uses his little resources to improve the lives of the downtrodden. He and his wife who was also honored are henceforth addressed as His Excellency and Her Excellency, while their residence at World Bank, Area M, Nwachukwu Orizu Street, Owerri, remains a freedom abode for people who scamper for safety”.
